Noni fruit and leaf extracts inhibited matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), COX-2 and Cat-G enzymes in vitro. Noni fruit juice concentrate also inhibited MMP-12 and Cat-G. These inhibitory effects on MMP, COX-2 and Cat-G enzymes help explain the traditional usage of the noni fruits and leaves to treat sunburn (original abstract available at http://www.japsonline.com/admin/php/uploads/587_pdf.pdf).
